Leuchtturm Schleimünde - und die Gastwirtschaft „Giftbude“ | Bis 1980 waren Schleilotsen auf der Halbinsel stationiert, die auch für den Betrieb des Leuchtfeuers zuständig waren. Heute leben keine Lotsen oder Leuchtturmwärter mehr auf der Insel; ihre Häuser dienen als Tagungshäuser und beherbergen die Gastwirtschaft „Giftbude“, eine traditionsreiche Gaststätte, die nur über das Wasser erreichbar ist und bei Seglern und Ausflüglern sehr beliebt ist. Der Name stammt vermutlich aus dem Althochdeutschen „Gift“ (Gabe) und bezeichnete ursprünglich eine Unterkunft für gestrandete Seeleute.
